Summary:
The Novel, “Someone Like You”, by Sarah Dessen shows an experience of a sixteen year old. In the novel the main character, Halley, comes to a turn in her life that she never expected. This turn consisted of her best friend Scarlett getting pregnant with a person that no longer lived, Micheal Sherwood. Halley will have to learn how to be strong for best friend. During junior high, Halley got to know someone named Macon Faulkner, who she started to adore and admire. Halley broke all her rules for him: lying to her parents about where or what she was doing, not realizing that she was changing herself in the process. As her parents kept advising her to stay away from Macon, she did not listen. She kept creeping closer and didn’t comprehend

Halley was trying to fit into the lifestyle Macon lived and she was stressed about losing her virginity that day as well. As the night got along Halley started to feel sick and the night did not go the way they had planned. On the ride back, Macon`s frustration and anger got over him: speeding, running the red lights and also not realizing what he was doing until they came to the last light. Macon followed through a red light and a car came crashing towards Halley`s side. The three words Halley was waiting for Macon to say all night were said “I love you Halley” expect, not at the right time. She didn’t realize how badly she was hurt, she just wanted to go home, but she had no choice. With her parents no knowing that she went out with Macon, she was afraid to call them so, she called Scarlett instead. Still worrying about Macon after the incident, she got know that he didn’t even show up to see her in the hospital after or tried to reach her in anyway. That’s when she executed to the fact the maybe he wasn’t right for her. From there on she handed her life to her parents, after listening to everything they had to say. She stayed away from Macon realizing that he was a bad influence to her, even though she still felt the attraction towards
