Nearly equidistant from it are the two outermost workers who stand across from each other and are practically at edges of the piece. Aside from both figures’ farthest legs, their bodies greatly stick out of the surface. When seen from a three-quarter or side view, the men look as if they are trying to escape the work, or rather escape the prison that is their work.…

Beowulf was recently married, and had just welcomed a beloved baby boy into his family. As a part of Beowulf’s wedding gift, Beowulf’s father decided to pass down their family corn farm to him. In fact, Beowulf lived in the village of Corniville where all generations of residents and other local industries had always replied on corn agriculture; without corn production, Beowulf’s community will practically cease to exist. Competition from neighbouring towns urged farmers in Corniville to make use of the recently developed fertilizer, which was produced in a newly established factory plant located within the Corniville village. While the farmers expected an exponential expansion in their corn production, the opposite happened; Beowulf noticed…

Italian novelist, Dino Buzzati, in his story, “Seven Floors,” describes the struggles a man, Giovanni Corte, has with his slight illness in a sanatorium. According to the story, the seven floors of the sanatorium are separated based on the “gravity of their state;” the seventh floor is for the extremely mild cases while the first floor are for the casses the doctors can’t fix.
