Arrival On Himmel Street begins with the book thief heading to Munich along with the little boy that died next to the railway, her brother. Soon after her brother dies on the train and you learn of the book thief’s name Liesel Meminger. Then her family exits at the next stop to bury Liesel’s brother Werner at an unnamed town. Later Liesel steals her first book which we later find out is The Grave Digger's Handbook. Eventually Liesel arrives to the town Molching where they have found their destination, Himmel Street. Waiting for Liesel are the Hubermanns Liesel's new foster family. Death then tells you a little bit more of Liesel’s story and you also learn a little bit about her father who people called a Communist but Liesel didn’t know what the word Communist meant. On the first day of living with the Hubermanns Liesel caused Rosa to get extremely angry with her but eventually Hans decided that Liesel didn’t need to take a bath so he decided to teach her how to roll a cigarette.
