He starts this book out angry, his thoughts toward Garvey and Edwin are terribly rude and mean. You can tell that he is a mean boy with a huge attitude. Touching Spirit Bear starts out with Cole in cuffs on his way to the island, this same time he acts out when the older men talk to him and he spits on Edwin trying to make him mad at Cole.The event at witch Cole beat Peter is why he is being banished to an island. These two boys are very divisive in the actions, especially Cole. Not to mention he smashes Peters, head in and attacked him because Peter told on Cole for breaking into the Hardware store. For this act on both accounts Peter goes to a detention center. Although Garvey is the only one who visited him in the detention center, Cole still didn’t appreciate anything Garvey did for him. Now he sees there is no point to be so aggressive towards everything in his life, including the people and animals and wants to change.
