The pastor foreshadows that religion “may come like a bolt of lightning.” York is attracted to a local girl named Gracie who he wants to marry, however he thinks he needs to own bottomland before he can court her. Alvin visits a man named Thompkins, who has a piece of bottomland for sale. York sells everything he can yet he is still short so Thompkins gives him 60 days to come up with the balance. They take the dangerous trip across no man’s in order to lay siege to a hill. York’s fire is so lethal and effective, that many Germans surrender, not realizing that just one man was attacking them. York applied his turkey hunting shooting method to the Germans resulting in the surrender of the entire unit. A German throws a grenade, killing Pusher, so York shoots him. York and the 7 surviving Americans return to American lines with 132 prisoners. York explains to Buxton that he was still against killing other men, but seeing the Germans killing so many Americans, he had to in order to save lives. York becomes the most decorated hero of the war. General John J. Pershing celebrated him as "the greatest civilian soldier" of the war. Alvin refuses to do any sponsorship or shows because he's not proud of what he did in France and doesn't want to profit from it, even if it is a quarter of a million dollars. The people of the State of Tennessee had built Alvin and Gracie a house, barn, and water pump on 200 acres of prime

The classroom setting is for, four-year-old preschool aged children. The idea behind the preschool comes from Piaget’s theory that children learn by a process of adaptation, assimilation, and then accommodation. During the first step, they interpret new stimulation in ways that fit with what they already know. As the new information assimilates, the existing knowledge modifies and creates a better match. Lastly, the child’s understanding gradually changes from the interaction with the environment.…

I love Professor Jason Rudy's pedagogy. He is able to incorporate a diverse range of subjects, e.g, music, art, literature, the socio-political landscape as well as show the multitude of divergent voices in the Victorian period. The inclusion of visual art and music is a welcome anomaly to his style as someone who has not been exposed to these aesthetics as much as the literary. The synthesis of his vast knowledge is easily transferred to his students. Additionally, he seems to really want to improve his students' abilities, which is shown in his critique of my essays as well as the individual attention he gives to each and every student.…

Soldiers at Valley Forge endured harsh conditions in order for the new nation to gain independence from the British. Soldiers had to decide whether or not to run away before their term of enlistment was complete or stay and fight the British. Despite the extreme difficulties of inadequate shelter, clothing, and food, soldiers in Washington's army had a duty to stay at Valley Forge. Washington overcame the difficulties by bringing a congressional committee to help supply the soldiers, by fostering a positive atmosphere at camp, and by making soldiers aware of how they were needed, after so many others had become sick or had died. First, soldiers at Valley Forge should have stayed because Washington brought the Congressional Committee…

cultural norms of a nation or region by a much “advanced” nation with access to superior weapons. The ideology of superiority can be seen in Rudyard Kipling’s poem, The White Man 's Burden, in which he called on the “white” European nations, and the United States, to educate and help those “sullen peoples [that were] half-devil and half-child” of the world, for it was their obligation to take on this “thankless” burden. For years, Europeans had believed that they were truly the superior being, civilizing the primitive people of the world. This way of thinking lulled them into a virtual reality where they could beat anyone and anything. Nationalism was another theme that could explain why people thought the way they did.…
