The Great Depression was a very hard time that started in 1929 after the fall in stock markets. The Great Depression was the longest and most widespread depression of the 20th century. Reasons why the Great Depression started was because of the stock market crash, bank failures, reduction in purchasing across the board, and drought conditions. The economy made many people lose their jobs. The depression affected every ones live children and adults. Many people became homeless and bread lines and soup kitchens became more common. Many people were living on the streets others lived in houses but they were usually small and rundown. Life in the Great Depression was hard for most people.
