Bridesmaid Shower

Decent Essays
A situation that has challenged me was my Aunt’s Bridesmaid Shower. My cousin and me were in charge of it. One of our tasks was to pick up the balloons from Party City and head to the bridesmaid location to setup before the guest arrived. I was excited to do this because I was getting hands on experience to setup an event. It was something new for me and it turned out great. Staying positive and being a believer in a new situation is always good for me because it takes my mind off of the fear of possibly messing up. Being in this situation taught me how to plan an event and being responsible allowed me to make sure things got done when they needed to be.

As an eighth grader, I had no choice but to balance out my school work, making sure to do all the chores, and taking care of my three younger siblings at home by myself. My parents would be up in the hospital taking care of my now passed grandmother, who had cancer, while I, being the oldest child in the family, had to stay home alone to take care of my younger siblings. At first it was a difficult task for my 12-year old self to handle. While I was doing my homework or studying, I would have to stop what I was doing and help my siblings on their homework. Another scenario would be me cleaning up the house, even though there were homework waiting for me on the table.…

After arriving to Wood Middle School as I would on any other day, I walked into the bustling commons area and noticed a herd of students scattered into their separate cliques. However, what immediately caught my eye was the number of teachers and administrators who clearly looked flustered and distressed. I soon left the commons area and headed towards the library to figure what exactly was going on. Sure enough, there was a cluster of teachers gazing at the library’s television in utter disbelief over what would soon become known as “The Stock Market Crash of 2008”. Even though I was only in the 6th grade, I still had enough competence to realize that this was not an ordinary day in the stock market.…
