A very well know book, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and a modern movie, Bride and Prejudice directed by Gurinder Chadha, have a very similar story to tell but even though they are similar they are different in the way they show and tell the story because one is from a very long time ago and the movie is similar to something that could happen today. What is going to be compared is one of the main characters known as Fitzwilliam Darcy in the novel and as William Darcy in the movie. The purpose to compare the character Darcy is to show that he is similar in many ways in the book but there are certain things that make him seem very different and that creates an impact on the book and movie characters because they see him very differently. Mr. Darcy is well put together character, in the book he is known to be a snob, clever, and conceited; in the movie he is seem as honest, successful, and conceited. In the movie Mr. Darcy arrives to India with his friend, Balraj. When Mr. Darcy arrives to India he is center of attention because he is a white man. He tries to fit in a bit when he goes to a dance with Balraj, he dresses in Indian Clothes and tries to dance. In the dance is where he is offered to dance with Lalita Bakshhi aka Elizabeth Bennet but he refuses to dance with her because she is not his type and pretty enough.
What makes him different from the book is that Mr. Darcy starts to show feeling for Lalita with jealousy. Lalita meets Johnny Wickham and starts to spent time with him and goes out with Mr. Wickham a few times. Mr. Darcy begins to see that Lalita is starting to like him and Mr. Darcy begins to talk with Lalita to get her attention. This makes Mr. Darcy seems more sentimental and caring towards Lalita in the
