As a Professional DJ in Toronto, I often get asked by wedding couples for suggestions on a 'Kissing Game' to replace the traditional clinking of the glasses to get the newly wed couple to kiss during the wedding reception. There are many options out there that range in interaction and possible embarrassment.

Here are a few popular games that I suggest.

Demonstration: Come up in front of the head table to demonstrate how you would like the bride and groom to kiss.

Kissing Dice: Roll the big foam dice with several options including: Bride & Groom kiss, the person rolling has to kiss someone, do a dance for the couple to kiss, roll again.

On October 7, 1998, Matthew Shepard, a gay 21-year-old college student, was abducted by two men who took him to a remote area, tied him to a fence, severely beat him with the butt of a pistol, and left him to die in the cold of the night. Matthew Shepard’s death became one of the most notorious anti-gay hate crimes in America, and 18 years later, it wasn’t the last. June 12, 2016 brought upon a new era of anti-gay hate crimes when 49 people were killed and 53 were injured in the Orlando night club shooting. Following the shooting, a candlelight vigil was held in Salt Lake City to mourn the tragic loss of lives. At the vigil, Republican Utah Lt. Governor Spencer Cox delivered a speech addressing his personal thoughts on the act of hate that…

Susan Patton, a graduate of Princeton University and author of “Marry Smart” encourages women to find a life partner in college. She is challenged by news reporter Kelly Wallace. While Patton argues women should be spending 75% of their time in college finding a husband, Kelly rebuts this with her own argument. “I wondered if her delivery, and her words, are doing more to set modern women back” (Wallace). Adding to this, Kelly asks, “Haven’t we come a long way, baby, from the days when a woman’s only focus was marriage and motherhood?”…

On Friday, June 26 2015 the Supreme Court ruled in favor of marriage equality in all fifty states. The five to four decision would forever change the lives of members in the lesbian, gay, transgender community and the rest of the country. The circumstances in which this ruling came about was tragic, the concerns around the case caused a lot of controversy but clearly the right decision was made. I really don’t understand why people don’t get this. I realize that it may be difficult for some to expand their traditional views on relationships and marriage, but we as a society need to accept the fact that others have qualities that make them slightly different yet we are all the same.…

After reviewing my persuasive speech over why the University of Oklahoma is the best university in the nation, I would sum up my speech as a little bit of train wreck. Although I made good claims with factual evidence, the amount of stuttering I did, and all the times I was choked up throughout the speech drew my audience’s attention away. From this, I lost my audience’s belief that I was competent of the information I was reiterating to them. At the introduction of my speech I believe I started out fairly strong and gave a good run down of the coming speech.…
