MUS120 Live Performance Review:
Brian Wilson Performs Pet Sounds It was impossible to turn down the opportunity to see genius song writer and co-founder of the Beach Boys perform. The venue was equally perfect; the Radio City Music Hall in New York City is on its own a treat to see. Between the high energy music, along with original Beach Boys members the entire performance was brilliant from start to finish, earning a well-deserved standing ovation. Although all in all the show was excellent, Brian Wilsons vocals were lacking at points, and coupled with obvious difficulties served as an indicator that this may unfortunately be one of his last times up on stage.

Al Jardine’s son, Matt Jardine joins the cast, additionally being a current member of the Beach Boys. The Brian Wilson band members each prove themselves to be unmatched musicians, especially when faced with such intricate music. It was clear everyone up on stage was having a good time, genuinely enjoying the music from the natural smiles to in some cases dancing in place as if unable to resist. Blondie Chaplin was clearly in his element when performing the high paced guitar solos in Wild Honey, dancing up to the front of the stage and shredding the guitar in a true rock …show more content…
The biggest problem was his inability to perform the falsettos he would traditionally do. The vast majority of these vocals were taken over by Matt Jardine, most notably in God Only Knows, while Brian would do the majority of the chorus, and pointing over to Matt whenever a falsetto verse came up. Another issue seemed to surface during I Get Around, while Brain Wilson practically spoke the chorus lines “Get around, round round, I get around” loudly, rather than singing them as would be heard in the original 1964 version, with a peculiar emphasis on the “I”. It was audibly wrong, clashing against the backup vocals who were singing in harmony, especially as his microphone was slightly louder being the main vocalist. These overall issues were compounded by his difficulty coming on and off stage, needing other musicians or staff to assist him with each step. There were a couple of points where Brian Wilson would get up in the middle of the performance and try to hurry of stage himself, before having a stage hand run out to

The major moments of the night were the hit songs, with an early showing of "Devil Without a Cause" and the audience going crazy over "Cowboy. " Everybody in the room was swiftly altered into a head-bobbing mess for "American Badass," and it seemed they had touched up on the lines of Rock's duet with Sheryl Crow which had Crow's parts played by backing singer/guitarist Shannon Curfman in, "Picture." The other great moments of the evening came from other people's music, scattered in throughout the show. A head-bob at the Motor City Madman Ted Nugent came during the solo feature from Kid Rock.…

After retiring from performing for a live crowd, Gould focused on studio recordings and radio shows. His anxiety while performing at concerts did not disappear after his retirement from stage, instead it shifted to the studio. In addition since he possessed limited amounts of education, Gould resorted to using sophisticated terms while conversing with others. Sadly, often what he said make very little sense as he used these words in the wrong context (Ostwald, 225). This in turn, affected his ability to take part in live interviews.…

Another actor chemistry that really blossomed through the whole production was Harrison Carr and Abriana Quinones they played Roger Davis and Mimi Marquez. Mimi Marquez was an club dancer, HIV positive, and a drug addict, with a love interest Roger Davis who is a ex-lead singer and is also HIV positive. Abriana and Harrison's connection was real throughout the production and made me tear up when their characters relationship was going to be broken apart. Abraina was a stronger actor than Harrison, Mimi is a bold character that could only be played by a strong actor. It seemed like Harrison was holding back a little bit, but the character Roger Davis fits Harrison's persona, Roger was not trying to start anything new but write one new song before…

The concert that I will be critiquing is the late Amy Winehouse, Live at Shepherds Bush Empire in London, England. On May 29th 2007, solo artist, Amy Winehouse performed along with her backing band, a soul group called The Dap-Kings. I chose to view this concert because Amy is my all-time favorite jazz/ soul singer. Amy performed songs from her masterpiece album "Back To Black" and a few songs from her debut album, "Frank".…

Concert Report Two The concert performance given live that I have attended on Thursday April 20th, 2017 was an organ licentiate recital by Ian Guenette. It was held at the Redpath Hall, a building located on McTavish street. The Redpath Hall was first dedicated for a library building, but is now taken charge by the Schulich School of Music. The Hall is very charming with its high selling that contains thick dark brown carved wodden beams that covers the intire ceiling and gives warmth to the room.…

It was very exciting to see these choirs sing with such passion. I also really liked listening to instruments live. I would rather listen to a pipe organ being played live than on a CD too.
