The conflicts in "The Story of an Hour", were shown throughout the entire short story by Mrs. Mallard. Her husband had been announced dead in an accident and as they slowly broke the news to her she became very emotional. However, she didn't seem to react to this situation the way many women would. As she isolated herself and looked at her life she felt more freedom than anything. She discovers that now she has a long life to live for herself. She selfishly continues to think about herself and wonders what her future may hold. The story then ends with a huge twist, when her husband walks in unaware of the circumstances they had all mistaken. Therefore, the emotional conflict of Brently's death is solved when it reveals that he is actually
