When Brent was in college it took a whole day to write an article, because it wasn’t published right away, like today. There wasn’t a way where you can develop pictures in one simple push of a button instead Brent had to go to a dark room in order to get his pictures.
Brent Johnson didn’t have the privilege of growing up with the technology, all he had was a cell phone, which was a simple pay phone at the time, so he couldn’t just rely on the news of social media because there wasn’t such thing as snapchat, facebook, or even twitter.
Brent Johnson describes the internet as a place where quick and accessible news can be found. However, there are downfalls to that as quick news can “give you bad information, rumors can be spread”. On the other hand, he is intrigued with how social media are now even publishing political debate, caucus results, other political events along with nationwide news. As he humoredly adds “I thought snapchat was just for sending quick 9 seconds pictures”.
