Breastfeeding Persuasive Speech

Breastfeeding has become more popular throughout the years. I will address this issue because many women get judged over feeding their infant in public.There are so many other problems in the world that go far beyond this issue. First off, the inherent tendency in western culture to overs sexualize female breasts. I say female specifically because male breasts are not privy to this same treatment in western culture. Laws have been passed in different states that don't prevent women to breastfeed in public. There are women protesting across the country to help show support in breastfeeding. Women are also looked as sexual objects, which brings greater value to what these women are doing across the country. We as women cannot allow to be seen just as sexual objects. I agree, that women should be allowed to breastfeed their infant any time, anywhere, and any place without getting judged. Throughout the years women have been seen as sexual objects. The primary function of the breast is to feed children, and the fact that in our current society we make that act is sexual is just terrible. Women in Atlanta have gathered together to go out and publicly breastfeed in places where women usually don't do it. There were women in Bendigo, Australia who went to a shopping mall and sat in food court to breastfeed their child.“If I were still breastfeeding I’d be marching down there to do it right now! I think there needs to be a mass breastfeeding session in that food court to educate the neanderthals out there that no one has the right to tell a mum where to feed her child,” said one of the women at the protest.This is an act of respect they are trying to gain in order to feel just as equal as men running out shirtless.
