Breastfeeding is something that is essential to a woman’s health as well as her child’s. Breastfeeding is an act that should be looked at as something natural world wide. However, when it is done publically is when it becomes an issue. Some countries don’t have as many problems as the citizens of the United States do with woman breastfeeding in public. In the article “Is the Breast Better?” , Elizabeth Vargas says, “America has one of the lowest breastfeeding rates of any industrialized country. That could be due, in part, to how uneasy Americans get when it comes to seeing a woman nursing in public.” Meaning that, most people seem to cringe when they come across a woman breastfeeding because they automatically think that when they see a woman’s breast that it is nasty or it’s seen as sexual thing. Breastfeeding in public should be something that is a universal right because just like any other rights this right is one that should be mutually accepted anywhere. If a grown adult can eat in public why can’t a newborn child? The universal right to breastfeed would make women feel a sense of protection.

Idaho has one of the highest breastfeeding rates in the United States. However, they are about the only state that has not taken the appropriate measures in passing the law that says women have the right to breastfeed in public. Idaho as a state does not believe that it is necessary to take this step because they see breastfeeding as inappropriate. In other…
