Mammograms, ultrasounds, x-rays, and MRIs have helped women with breast cancer since 1895 (x-ray) 1956 (ultrasound) 1977 (MRI), and 1992 (mammogram). They have all been very beneficial to women. Breast cancer is the most common type of cancer in women. About one of three cancers are diagnosed. Cancer is a group of diseases that cause cells in the body to change and grow out of control. Most cancers will form a lump or mass in the breast, which is called a tumor. It is named after a part of the body where the tumor originates. My expectations going into this research is that I will learn a lot about mammograms, and I will be prepared when I am 40 and have to get my mammogram. I hope this research will give me a lot of knowledge. For ultrasounds, MRIs, and x-rays I will know information and can ask if I need to take further steps. My product will be a 3D model of a x-ray, or a mammogram. I will show the good things every woman wants to see in their mammogram, and I will show the things a women doesn’t want to be shown in their mammogram scans. The facts, and statistics on x-rays. X-rays are also beneficial to women who have cancer. Studies have shown that if a young girl has scoliosis their risk for breast cancer has increased. If a woman 's breast cancer has advanced to the lungs,a chest x-ray to see how the cancer is responding to the treatment. If a woman experiences shortness of breath, or starts to run a fever the doctors will need to run an x-ray. To see if there is any inflammation in the lungs due to the shortness of breath, or the doctor will need to run a x-ray if the patient is running a fever, because they may start to get pneumonia. X-rays aren’t just for fractures, or swallowed items that a child may have taken, but it is also for breast tumors. When getting the breast x-rays there can’t be any metal in the bra. no jewelry around the chest area. Just like the mammogram the doctor will provide the patient with a gown so they can be x-rayed
