Death always comes unexpectedly; no one can know in advance when they would leave us. The death of my father was abruptly too. I remember the day perfectly. I was in school when my dad told me over the phone that he had liver cancer. I was shocked and at a loss at what to do for my dad. I was unable to comprehend how this could possibly be true. He died two months later. My feelings of grief and helplessness changed my life forever. I want to learn about cancers and do everything I can to help other likes him. I became interested in medical field.
When I came back to United States I started doing some researches about careers in healthcare. A career in Medical Laboratory Technician draws my attention eventually. I am holding an associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technician, along with a certificate of American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). I have been using my clinical laboratory skills to examine and analyze body fluids, tissues and cells, as well as identify infective microorganisms. I couldn’t get out of my head the thought that I was going to lose Mom again. We were all with her when she had mastectomy last December. What’s ahead is that which we fear - 6 months of chemotherapy which will start in March. I don’t know where all of this is going. But I learnt from my Dad is whatever happens stay strong and focus on moving forward. I am very interested in continuing my learning and become a qualified sonographer. I feel that the role of a diagnostic medical sonographer would be a very interesting role. It would be very exciting to have experience using ultrasound machines and skills to analyze and then interpret the images to make a diagnosis. Moreover, after two year of working behind the scenes, I want to be interacting with patients, get the chance to talk to people, and help them when they are facing a difficult medical
