Breast cancer (BC) is a disease which is believed to be caused by a disruption in the equilibrium of certain cell cycles within breast tissue, resulting in the uncontrolled replication of cells and eventually, tumours, which can become malignant and spread to other potentially vital organs (Pennery et al. 2009). Although some suggested causes raise controversy, such as the notion that breast cancer may be linked to infection by other viruses including, mouse mammary tumour virus, human papilloma viruses, Epstein-Barr virus and bovine leukemia virus; causes such as smoking, “Western diet” and radiation exposure are more commonly accepted (Seymour and Mothersill 2013).
