I think in our globally society we are constantly meeting people of different backgrounds, individual with different experiences and attitudes. In order to communicate effectively with these individuals, we need to be able to pick up important cultural/social cues, then act in a manner that is important for each environment we encounter. For example, when presenting you use slangs and words understood by New Yorkers but may be not by people from the South is not being culturally agile.
