You see it in movies. You hear about it in today’s songs. You read about them in magazines. The world seems to be constantly buzzing about relationships. People closely watch and support their favorite couples. But what happens when two people decide that they aren’t meant to be? Breaking up is a process consisting of three stages: the pre-breakup, ending the relationship, and the post-breakup. The pre-breakup is the first and hardest stage in ending a relationship. This stage requires a lot of thought. One of the first steps is discussing the problems with the partner before making a decision. These problems could possibly be fixed and result in strengthening the relationship. A person should not make the final decision without a clear head. Do not decide during the heat of the moment or on a bad day. When picking a time and place, pick a private place with no special meaning. This will allow no bad feelings in places with happy memories. Try not to cut the ties the night before he or she has a big event.
The biggest debate many people have is whether to end the relationship in person or over the phone. It may be hard, but the best way to do it is in person.
