21 Nov. 2017 Overcome obstacles People often see your success but not the difficulties you face behind that success. In the book called “ Breaking Night” by Lizz Murray talk about her journey from homelessness to Harvard and difficulties she faced. As Angela Dukhworth research said “When it comes to high achievements, grit may be as essential as intelligence”(1). Lizz’s struggle and her gritty behaviour makes her achieve her goals in life and complete her taugh journey. Murray have obstacle in her life but she overcome them by helping her drug addicted parents and successfully completing education. The problem, she mainly faced when she was a kid is drug addicted parents .Because of

When she realized that her parents not going to quit drugs ever she leave home. After She left home and start living with her boyfriend she didn’t go back to see her mom. Because she said “ i was not going back into the system”. She doesn’t want to go back but her boyfriend did violent behaviour with her so also left him. She decides to go to school and complete her high school diploma. “ Figuring out high school while homeless meant handling details that never would have occurred to me until I was actually living in the situations”. So far she only has 1 high school credit and no address. She didn’t have a place to sleep and room to study. So she sleeps on the streets, on school building floor or somewhere under the light where she can study. But as Angela Dukhworth research says “ Setbacks don’t discourage me”(1). She did’t felt discouraged with situations that she don’t have anything but she still try to do it. She need to get A’s and B’s in all classes to pass high school. She do all her homework in the school library, ask for instructor’s help and do all her homework on time. She never missed school and be on time for classes. Her struggle was harder because she didn’t had any place to sleep or home to go and study. She put all her stuff in her back and carried that everywhere with her in school. Her bag was her pillow and her jacket was her blanket. She took extra classes because she needs to pass one year
