Bread
There once was a man named Mitus. He and his wife, Viole owned a bakery that baked bread in a small town called Koffinsberg. They baked all sorts of bread at their shop. From basic bread, to bread with nuts and blueberries and more. They loved working there together. Many customers came in each day, some were the same, and sometimes new people came in from time to time. One day an old man came in. This old man was quite ordinary, other than him being homeless. A long brown coat. Torn gloves. Frayed jeans. And a scruffy beard. The man came up to the counter and ordered one loaf of bread and that is all. Then he left. The two store owners didn't think anything of this.

They were doing well, but one day business seemed to abruptly stop. Thinking it was just an odd day, they carried on like normal. But the strange absence of customers did not stop. After a week of this, they decided to snoop around and see where their business had gone. And what they would find would astound them. A new bakery had opened up just two blocks away. This place was twice as big as the couple's shop. They walked inside and stopped dead in their tracks. To their surprise, the store owner was none other than the homeless man they had kicked out. The man greeted the couple. The man explained that he knows who they were, but he won't kick them out, because everyone is welcome here. From the rich to the poor and homeless and everyone in between. On top of that he is giving any homeless people that come into the store one loaf for free and day of the week. Because that's what they deserve. He then went on to explain that the bread he was buying from the store was actually for homeless people around town. Embarrassed the couple just stood there, baffled.
A week later the couple had moved out of town and were never heard of again. No one really noticed they had gone. The town was never more alive, and less and less homeless people consumed the population. All the while the old man kept to himself that he was in fact, the king of Koffinsberg. He later sold his shop and used all the money

Archeologists have found Ancient Egyptian calligraphy reading “let me live upon bread and barley of white ale made of grain red”. Bread and beer originated in the early history of mankind and played an essential role in Egyptian civilization. Historians estimate that bread stemmed from the Middle East approximately 10,000 years ago when pre-historic man accidentally hardened porridge after cooking it too long over an open fire. It formed a hard, flat, cracker-like substance. Flat bread became a crucial source of carbohydrates to supplement their diet and encouraged the farming of cereal grains.…

What, to the homeless man, is Thanksgiving? I answer: a holiday that reminds him, more than any other hungry day in the year, the gluttony and selfishness to which he is the constant prey. To him, your feasts are ridiculous; your thankful humility, just empty words; your giving attitude, bitterly ironic; your television specials, a mockery of his suffering; your holiday spirit, vanishing in an instant; your clamoring for generosity and kindness, painful to his ears; your pumpkins and autumn leaves, your peace and togetherness, with all the Macy’s Parades and cranberry sauce, are, to him mere frivolity, excess, wastefulness, greed, and close-fisted behavior- a tablecloth thrown over miserly deeds which would shock a room full of businessmen.…
