An example of an outreach effort that I conducted to an unreached group at the University of Maine was one focused on Greek Life students. When arriving at UMaine it came to my attention that the IV chapter there had been trying to reach the Greek students on campus but hadnt been very sucessful. This is a group of students who I have a special heart for and knew that the mutual nenifitial relationship they could have with the IV chapter. I first had a conversation with the IV staff Jon Kennerson about how I would be speaking at our regions Greek getaway later in the semester and I would love to try to get some Greek students from Maine to be able to attend. We talked about ideas I had about reaching the students, a goal for how many I would like to ideally brign to the …show more content…
I than was abel to invite them to the conference and let them know that I was planning on applyign for funding for scholarship through the university student government assosiation to help elliviate some if not all costs. Unfortunately all 12 of the students I had met with over the course of the few weeks had prior mandatory engagements the weekend of the conference but I kept in contact with the students in hopes of havign a Greek fellowship night either camping or hiking which were two suggestions that came up in conversations with the students.I also reached out to the presidents of the chapters in the Greek Life office I worked in to give them a informational flyer and my business card in case anyone was interested in coming to an Intervarsity meeting. Each week I would pray over the greek life office that God would bring Greek students to the office who were searching for answers or soemone to share the gospel with them. I was open about my love for jesus in the office and students who often ask questions about the worship music I was listening to or about the

“Homeless on Campus” In the magazine article “Homeless on Campus”, Bader uses pathos and ethos to help inform the audience about the plight of homeless college students, and bring them to attention. The article was mainly directed at college administrators and educators, and secondly to people who worked in financial aid. For the college administrators and educators, this would help bring attention to their homeless and poverty ridden students and to persuade them to do more to help them out. For the financial aid advisors, it would convince them to provide more options and opportunities for these students.…

Researching nontraditional students allowed me to capture the thoughts and feelings of these students in regards to involvement outside of the classroom. This research will give the campus an opportunity to reach out to this student population when planning events and take into consideration some of the challenges faced by non-traditional students. Student organizations on campus can also learn how to increase participation and membership in the organization from the non-traditional student. The overall goal is to give the nontraditional students a voice and allow administrators the opportunity to further support this student group.…

While looking through stacks of pictures I realize how important the memories in the photos are to me. One particular photo, from ninth grade, is especially significant to me not because of how I or my friends look, but because of how much my life has changed in the few years since I began high school. Walking through the doors of Bartram trail High School my first day freshman year was the start of who I was and who I would become. Today and I am a bigger and better person than I was the first day of high school as I have become the person I wish to be and I have high school to thank for that, but more importantly I have Link Crew to thank. Link Crew is a part of the Project Boomerang program created for freshmen, designed to help freshmen adjust from middle school to high school with assistance from upperclassmen who are able to share insight about their high school experiences.…

Shortly after arriving on campus, the Mu Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha caught my attention because I realized that they play an integral role in various student organizations. One of my first experiences came when I attended a Black Student Movement meeting and everyone in attendance was to pair up to write notes to elementary school students. The president of BSM, Tre Shockley, walked up to me and asked to pair for the assignment. While up with me while writing the note he talked to me my experiences on campus so far and about BSM. At the time of the conversation I did not know he was an Alpha, but he was willing to reach out to a first-year and that made me feel more comfortable as I was still trying to figure out how to navigate a large university.…

It was a blustery and gloomy morning as I trudged along the weathered pavement to the entrance of the church. My Sympathetic Nervous System was revved up as I anticipated what lie behind the faded and chipped paint door. Upon entering the room I was jovially greeted by a man with a melodious “Welcome!” There were about thirty people from all different lifestyles, huddled in the room around three long wooden tables. Men and women, some appeared jovial and others exhibited a flat effect.…

Literature in the Victorian Era, that would later be referred to as “Science Fiction”, consists of an array of elements. This reflection will focus on the following four elements; dense physical description, the idea of the lonely scientist, the story’s own materiality, and the form of the frame narrative. With little dialogue, “The Lifted Veil” is heavy with description. When Latimer recalls his entrance into Geneva, his physical description fits with the science fiction formal element, “dense physical description”; “When I was sixteen I was sent to Geneva to complete my course of education; and the change was a very happy one to me, for the first sight of the Alps, with the setting sun on them, as we descended the Jura, seemed to me like…
