Collaborative efforts of the U.S. and Brazil have established a National Institute of Health in El Salvador and an antiretroviral pharmaceutical plant in Mozambique that serves the southern part of Africa. Furthermore, these efforts compiled a collection of information about behaviors causing HIV in Angola. A majority of Portuguese-speaking countries are in Africa in the Western and Southern regions. Through collaborative efforts, Brazil already has a presence in Portuguese-speaking countries in Africa and may very well serve as a model for Nigeria in the future. With the highest gross domestic product in West Africa and as a leading nation, Nigeria will be responsible for laying the groundwork to promote GHSA in the region and its public health system will lead the larger region. West Africa is home to polyphonic countries: effective communication will be critical in this region.
