Brazilian Jiu Jitsu

I have been practicing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for over two and a half years now! Personally I think martial arts can help many people feel stronger, healthier, and more confident. My parents made me start martial arts, and at first I didn't like it! The environment and uniform felt alien to me. But after a few classes, I began to enjoy myself and feel more comfortable. I practice Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). BJJ is more my style because it focuses on grappling rather than striking. To end a match, you submit your partner by either putting stress on a joint or choking them, which appeals to me more than striking. Also, it is designed to help smaller people defend themselves from heavier people, which is a plus for me! I train at Straight Blast Gym

In the locker room are Dan and Jason. I say hello and continue on to my locker. More people come in and everyone starts talking about how bad their day was. It's almost a daily contest to see who can have bragging rights for having the worst day, perhaps they want sympathy or maybe they just like to complain a lot. I find it humorous that a bunch of guys who come in every day to train and beat on each other can complain so much, so I laugh at them and leave the locker room.…
