The fifth largest country in the world with a population of 200.4 million people that ranges from the basin of the Amazon River to the Brazilian Highlands is known as Brazil (Central Intelligence Agency). Northern Brazil is dominated by the basin of the Amazon River, which occupies two thirds of the county, whereas southern Brazil has a large plateau called Brazilian Highlands which is 300-910m. above sea-level. Due to the country being 3.288 million mi², its climate varies from the northern part of the country to the southern part. According to The World Factbook on Brazil near the basin of the Amazon River the climate is tropical, a dry climate in areas near Fortaleza, Brazil and temperate or subtropical climate to the south of the tropic of Capricorn.
Brasilia, Brazil is the capital of Brazil and is located in the center west of the country, however the most populated city is São Paulo with 11.9 million people (Country Watch). Brazilians speak Portuguese with no different delicts but only moderate regional variation in accents, vocabulary, use of nouns and pronouns. There are also over 195 indigenous languages that are spoken in Brazil such as German, Italian, Japanese, Korean and more according to Country Watch. The majority of the population practices Christianity. In addition, the currency is Brazilian real, one Brazilian real is equal to about 0.31 US dollars.
