The reason why I chose this article is because I was interested in how Brazil runs its school system. I enjoy learning about different countries especially when they are so vibrant. I don’t plan on staying in Texas for ever so if I move to another country like Brazil I will already be aware of how the school systems are ran. No just Brazil but a variety of different counties are important to learn about because you never know where your students originate from. It could also provide information on how I need to address the students if they are placed in my class. Whenever you emerge yourself in a culture you gain a better understanding of their beliefs. The author was born and raised in Brazil then spent most of her adult life in the United States so she can compare and contrast the differences between the two countries. Fortunately, the government in the Unites States offers more services for students with special need. This article opened my eyes to see that I may have children in my class that and not only trying to learn a different language, but also try to keep up with the grade level they are placed in. Special needs children will need the most assist especially if they lived in poverty back in Brazil. In Brazil disabilities are associated with poverty therefor they are not a big concern to the teachers because they don’t go to school. It’s unfortunate that children in poverty aren’t able to attend school but it’s really heart breaking to know that children with disabilities are discarded. I honestly feel like in order to teach the students with disabilities I would have to first show them the compassion they have been denied in their previous environment. My future students will come from many different backgrounds. Especially, if they come from another country analyzing their personality and how much knowledge they have is key. All children are blessings no matter if they were born into poverty or a wealthy family. Hopefully, by the time I become a teacher the information I need will be provided to be in order to assist my students the best way
