Brayzack had finished up his conversation with Petty Officer 1st Class Gannon just when another petty officer came up informing him of his presence being requested in one of the conference rooms located up in the control tower of the ship. Upon reaching the conference room, Brayzack was asked to sit in on a meeting that consisted of several members of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the U.S. Military, three U.S. Senators—two of which two were from New York, the other from Massachusetts, the captain of the U.S.S. Carl Vinson, and via satellite the president himself. The men had been well into their discussions already.
