The reason would be that Nagaina is a cobra and Rikki Tikki is a mongoose. They are natural born enemies which already gives them the enemy relationship between both of them. Nag has an evil plan to get rid of the mongoose by killing his whole family so he wouldn’t have anyone to take care of him and would have no family.This character trait is somewhat similar because they both have an evil plan to attack each other and kill both their families which was the only thing similar between them.Nagaina tries to kill Rikki Tikki’s family so he would be left alone and would also get his revenge.In the story you read about Nagaina plan to get rid of Rikki Tikki Tavi’s family.
