Mr. Tellez’s story ‘Ashes for the Wind’ reveals just how far people go for what they believe in. An excellent example of the bravery of Juan and his family is when one of the police men accompanying Simon Arevalo’s son told Juan “They’d better clear out.” Juan’s wife responded “They’ll have to kill us!” to Juan later that night when he told her. Juan thought that the government should have no concern with his neighborhood since it’s a poor area. Juan and Carmen had come running outside their house, alerted by gun fire and one of the guards was indeed shooting, “Sounds good doesn’t it?
