Bravery In Dauntless

Dauntless Tris was born in abnegation, the selfless faction, but now when she receives her test results she must choose how to live her live, being selfless or brave. When children turn 16 they choose a faction to live their life in, to determine which faction they go to they take tests. The majority get results for the faction they live in and choose it, but the few that don't usually follow their test results. The tests are supposed to only give one result for one faction, although a handful get results for 2 or more, those people are Divergent. Tris is a Divergent and she chooses to be brave in Dauntless. Bravery is a great trait to build up over the years since bravery is essential to be honest, acknowledge defeat, and it is needed to be …show more content…
"A brave man acknowledges the strength others" (Roth, Veronica, Divergent pg. 147). It takes bravery to face humiliation and accept consequences of defeat. Bravery helps people admit defeat, but yet another reason bravery is a fantastic character trait is that it is entwined with being selfless. Being selfless is quite tied with being brave. "I have a theory that selflessness and bravery aren’t all that different" (Roth, Veronica, Divergent pg. 497). In times of danger, such as September, 11th it takes a colossal amount of bravery and courage to save others with the risk of losing oneself's life. In conclusion bravery is a wonderful trait to possess because it is needed for people to be honest, it helps acknowledging defeat, and is connected with selflessness. If the world had no bravery there would be no honesty. If the world's population was made of cowards no one would admit defeat. If the humans had no courage many more would have died on some of the worst days in history. With no bravery Earth would drastically change to a world where no one is courageous enough to do anything, that is why bravery is a superior
