Brandon Burlsworth was an outstanding son, football player, college student, human being and a Christian. Instead of celebrating the Razorbacks 1998 SEC Western Division Championship with his teammates, Brandon chose to go home and go to church with his mom. Brandon had faced the loss of several family members in a years time but still fought hard to stay focused and to set a good example for others and stay strong in his faith. On his way home he was involved in an automobile accident which ended his life almost instantly. April 28, 1999 would be a day never to be forgotten by many! His family founded the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation which helps underprivileged children who would in normal situations not have a chance at achieving certain goals and enjoying things like a RAZORBACK game from the sidelines. The BBF ( Brandon Burlsworth Foundation) helps children in many different ways. One way is through the program called Eyes of a Champion. This program helps children get eye exams and glasses so they can do good at their school work. Through the Brandon Burlsworth Foundation children can experience Football Camp; but at this camp it not only teaches them about football it also teaches them about character, attitude, morals, priorities and the desire to do it the “Burls Way”. “Burls Kids” is the signature program of the foundation. The Foundation, each year, buys 30 Razorback home game tickets and distributes them to underprivileged children and allows them to be a star for a day by enjoying what it is like to be a celebrity at one of the games. The Foundation also gives awards and scholarships recognizing students who are overachievers and have good character. Students can even receive a Burlsworth Trophy.
