Brandolyn Dianne Davis is an minority hardworking mother. She grew up in hardcore Chicago, Illinois in the 1960’s and the disco of the 1970’s with presidents like John F. Kennedy, Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, and Jimmy Carter. Although she was only a mere child, she can remember the chaos following President Kennedy and Martin Luther King’s assassination. Brandy votes because her forefathers died for her to have that right and she doesn’t want their deaths to be in vain. She started voting at 18 because the pride she felt in doing so. After voting for the first time, she said, “I can vote, but I can’t go into a bar and get a drink, I’m going to help elect a president that will change the drinking age.” Of course, that view has changed after seeing how 18 year olds act while under the influence of alcohol. …show more content…
They believed the people who run the country are racists and that the government is corrupted to keep the black man down. While Brandy’s parents did help shape her views of the government, she still has her own that are little different from her parents. Brandy is a democrat because she feels that “they put on a better act/pretence that they are interested in helping middle, lower middle class, and poor Americans.” She watches the MSNBC news 24/7 so she can keep an eye on the specific issues that she cares about, including entitlement programs.
