He then changed his name to David Koresh his name proposed that he was spiritual heir of the biblical King David and that he is a messianic figure but not the messiah Jesus (Branch Davidian). After doing so Koresh applied his new authority by taking several “spiritual” wives from among unmarried members and in 1989 he asserted that he was the perfect mate for all female members and confined to the Davidians his intention to create a new lineage of children who he believed would eventually rule the world (Branch Davidain). The ways how they mislead their followers were by brainwashing them. Such as, making them do drugs, sleep deprivation, abusing them, using godly figure’s teachings, and tests to make them loyal.
