If I had the ability to choose which type of memories to give up in the case of brain trauma or injury, I would choose to give up my memories of the past if I were a relatively young age at the time of the brain trauma. Losing my long-term memory would mean that I would lose all my memories up through the accident. I would lose all the good memories from my childhood, my marriage, my children’s birth, and other wonderful events that happened. At the same time, I would also lose any bad memories of things that occurred in the past.
