The Condition
Brain cancer is the irregular and uncontrolled growth of cells and tissue in the brain, affecting the Central Nervous System. Brain cancer takes the form of tumors, and these tumors can be cancerous (Malignant) or non-cancerous (Benign). Malignant tumors are dangerous since they destroy healthy brain tissue. Brain tumors grow through local extension, meaning that they rarely spread beyond the brain. Malignant brain tumors rapidly grow, while gradually increasing the pressure within the brain. At the same time, it is not likely that the tumor will spread beyond the central nervous system.

If the tumor is discovered early, and removed quickly, the patient has a better chance of recovering. However, if the tumor is not curable, the treatment offered is to make the patient comfortable, and as neurologically stable as possible. There is no complete cure for brain cancer, since often; patients are left with long lasting mental side effects even after the tumor is removed.
Causes
The causes for brain cancer are not known, but through research, it has been discovered that people who work with rubber or certain chemicals have a greater risk of a tumor.
There are over 120 types of brain cancer, both Gliomas (malignant or benign that originate from glial tissue) and non-glial tumors. The two most common types of Glioma are astrocytomas and ependymomas.non-glial tumors including medulloblastomas, meningiomas, schwannomas, and childhood brain tumors.
The Concern with prevention
Potential causes are still being studied and the prevention methods are definitely not guaranteed to work. The prevention plans an individual plans for a patient may not work, and that individual still has the risk of getting a brain tumor. It can be difficult to accurately measure environmental and other influences of cancer during research and as a result, brain cancer is still a hugely common
