There have been studies done that show drinking alcohol in some ways can inhibit the woman to be able to lactate. One study was conducted and the women were asked to pump for two days and consumed .3 grams of alcohol.12 The results showed a 9.3% decrease in lactation compared to the women that didn’t consume alcohol. Other studies have shown that the child received a decreased amount of milk and this wasn’t due to them not liking the milk, but due to the mother not being able to produce the proper amount of milk.
