Before we picked up Ava I went to Braedey´s football game with my parents. His game was at Optimist Club in Lapel. When we got there the first thing I did was buy a hamburger. We were leaving the house and, of course, running behind. I forgot to pack my gear, didn’t wake up in time to eat breakfast, and was tired. When my family had finally gotten into the car it was an hour after we had originally planned to leave. After about an hour and a half of driving, we stopped at McDonalds for lunch and then again at a gas station so that we could all use the restroom. The original plan was to go check in at the hotel before going to the game, but that just was not possible anymore.…

While my parents traveled to and from work everyday, there were a couple of songs they may have heard quite often due to their popularity. If they happened to be listening to the radio when I was born, they more than likely heard the number one song “I Don’t Want to Miss a Thing” by Aerosmith (“Birthday No #1.”), which won the MTV Movie Award for Best Song from a Movie (“Aerosmith Awards.”). Diane Warren, the songwriter, became nominated for an Oscar for the Best Music from an Original Song, won the ASCAP Award for Most Performed Songs from Motion Pictures, and was even nominated for the Grammy Best Song written Specifically for Motion Picture or for Television (“Diane Warren Awards.”). Other songs they may have heard could have been “Candle in the Wind” by Elton John or even “Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden ("90s Hits – Billboard #1s.”). Other than listening to songs, my parents often found themselves sitting on a comfortable couch watching a hit TV show.…

One curl of her dark brown hair crept over her shoulder and plastered itself into the sweaty V. She brushed her hand across her breast to remove it, and when she raised her eyes, caught Mayor Guidry Broussard staring. Hogging the only shade available at noon on this eighty-five degree day in mid-May, the mayor stood in the exact center of the village gazebo. Though I had quite a few expenses that were necessary, many of my expenses I had to make tough decisions about and think about the opportunity cost. Taxes were a necessity that I had to pay, as was insurance. But, I decided to buy a less expensive house and pay for transportation rather than buying an expensive house and not needing transportation. I bought a two bedroom house in Federal Way, which is a 30-50 minute drive away from my work downtown. Though this can be a long commute, I lucked out and was able to rent two cheap cars that don’t have too much mileage on them.…
