While going through the "I" Message technique, it seemed a lot harder to come up with things that did not point a finger at the other person. When an individual fights with their intimate partner, they tend to always blame the other person or other things, when in reality we both hold the same responsibility. Also, Bradbury & Karney (2014) express, "A lot of relationships seeks for empathy, which is the understanding and sharing of another person's thoughts and feelings" (p.242). We can see this when we wonder if our partners cares more than we think they do, which they usually do. As a human, we seek for empathy from partners, parents, sibling, family members, and others.
