Although I graduated from high school in 2000, I didn’t begin working toward my Bachelor’s degree until 2012. My career aspirations were simple: get a job, make some money. I had a small amount of savings allocated for my college career, but greatly underestimated the financial obligations of furthering my education. I survived a little more than one semester before my funding ran dry. I began working, and used what was left in my savings to spend the summer in Europe. For some, greatness may mean eradicating hunger or achieving world peace. For others, greatness presents itself in a more modest package. Greatness to some means learning how to read, moving to a safe neighborhood or putting dinner on the table each night. These are the people I am passionate about helping. My goal is to empower those that are underprivileged and to facilitate their journey to greatness.
Guided and determined, I set out to learn what was required. I attended nonprofit seminars, read countless books on leadership and became involved in a number of organizations such as the American Red Cross, L3 Leadership and the Young Nonprofit Professionals Network. I was offered a full-time position at SSPC, a nonprofit organization where I still work today.
