Boyz N The Hood Case Study

Decent Essays
Boyz N the Hood was filmed in a run down and troubled urban environment. It was highly populated with low income families and low end neighborhoods. The major issue was the youth environment and what they had to grow up in. The lack of role models in their life’s affect the way they grew up and who watched over them and disciplined the kids. With the kids not growing up with role models it leads to a lack of education and not attending school.

Boyz N the Hood is a tough, raw film. The sense of frustration and urgency expressed is so great that at times Singleton's characters seem to mount invisible soapboxes to address the audience directly and shake some sense into them. Singleton quietly observes that “films serve different purposes, some are meant just to entertain, but there's also room for other films that inform as…

This was their first album under a record label that they created themselves so this is what happened to get there. The style of hip-hop prior to N.W.A was vastly different as what they rapped about wasn’t always about the streets.
