An eight year old boy is captivated by mixing some household chemicals to examine the chemical reaction from blending the two compounds. Creating a mess for his supportive mother to clean, a young boy thought that the pressure of the gas created by baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) and vinegar (diluted acetic acid) was inspiring enough for him to become a chemical engineer someday, that young boy was I. Throughout my life I have been involved with a multitude of groups and teams that have guided and developed my desire to complete my education and go to college. Influencing me the most, The Boy Scouts of America is an organization I have been associated with since I was in first grade. Always supportive, my brother, father, and mother have …show more content…
Providing a plethora of activities for me to be affiliated with, the East Stroudsburg Area Senior High School North campus has provided an organized number of activities which include Band, Vice president of the Honor Society, and Team captain for both Varsity soccer and Varsity swimming. Being the peak of my high school career, my junior year, on the varsity swim team I was appointed the rank of team captain for my senior year because of the work ethic this sport has developed for me. Because my work ethic is as unrelenting as it is, this allows me to do my absolute best to learn and complete any advanced placement class so I can get as much out of my education as possible. Furthermore, some teachers that I have learned to work with and learn from have influenced my perspective toward education so that I may complete and receive the highest grade capable to better my understanding.
Being my greatest endeavor of all is to be accepted into the Pennsylvania State University and become a chemical engineer. Because these goals and activities such as education, Boy scouts, and Varsity sports revolve around my life and have influenced me to become such a hard worker, I believe that with acceptance into the Pennsylvania State University, I can broaden my skills as well as integrate with college life to benefit society for the

Upon enrolling in high school I realized that I could no longer put an average effort into easy class work and be rewarded with academic satisfaction. After joining the honors course along with band and the FFA, it was revealed to me that high school was a different culture than middle school. I quickly discovered that hard work would be required to be successful in everything I will ever do. Band demanded countless hours of practice, but I ultimately gained first chair in the top band, as well as squad leader over the trumpet section. Like band, the FFA required hours of dedication, but I distinguished myself from other FFA members.…

I still remember how scared I was when I stepped in to the yellow foot prints when I got off the bus at RTC Great Lakes in 2004. The thought of becoming an officer never even crossed my mind because I always felt that I wasn’t smart enough, tough enough, or big enough. I was afraid to fail because I never stepped outside of my comfort zone. I can now say with certain conviction that it was the Navy, in particular two chiefs that help push me beyond my own expectations. This is what I feel I have to offer as an officer in the United States Navy.…

One challenge I have faced started when I was in boy scouts in Indiana. We had to make a car and race it on a track that will be set up and raced on a specific day that they had planned. Although we got about a month to make it, it was my first time I had to carve and paint a wooden block and turn it into a car. My dad helped me with carving and painting it a little. Since it was my first time, I decided to make it simple.…

My story begins at Onteora Scout Reservation in Upstate New York. The Boy Scouts of America have an honor society known as the Order of the Arrow, which is for Scouts who wish to dedicate themselves to an order that serves others more than that of the Boy Scouts. Scouts are selected through a troop-wide vote, and I was one of the few scouts selected to participate in the ordeal to join this order. The ordeal was a series of tests in order to confirm that we, the candidates, are fit to join this order. Before we began, however, we were required to take a series of 24-hour vows that included silence, fasting, service, and sleeping alone.…

Introduction When a young boy starts talking about the joys of Boy Scouts he typically does not know about the administration side of running a troop. In the local Boy Scouts of America (BSA), the large majority of the adult leadership is made up of volunteers. There are numerous levels of scouting from Troops (being the most localized) to National (the most administrative). In this organization a select few people come together and make decisions about a group on a national scale.…

Being a part of a prestigious organization called Key Club is definitely one of the best blessings I have received throughout my high school career. Key Club is where I have seen myself grow and mature the most. My dedication to this organization for the past four years serves as another milestone in my life-long journey for self-development. In the minds of my parents, college acceptances are influenced entirely by grades and standardized test scores--the idea of community service goes against the successful anecdotal testimonies of college acceptances of which they are privy. However, I believe there is a need for balance between academics and extracurricular activities.…

I am attracted to the Boy Scout program by the campouts, service projects, helping Cub Scouts, and the normal fun things Boy Scouts do. I began Cub Scouts and that helped me get a feel for what Boy Scouts is. I did all the ranks from Tiger to Weblo 2, although I did not create an Arrow Of Light when I crossed over to Boy Scout. I joined Boy Souts and thought it would be "lame", but that was the total opposite of what I thought, that also attracted me to Boy Scouts because I learned what you do and it was all fun.…
