Lastly, perhaps the most important quality a Boy Scout most cultivate and adhere to so that they might earn the Eagle Scout rank is honesty. Undoubtedly, if I had not been honest in virtually all areas of my life during my time working toward Eagle Scout, I probably would not have been granted my Eagle even had I still completed all necessary requirements. Indeed, the actions of a scout are not the only aspect that comes under scrutiny in determining whether they have earned the right to be made an Eagle Scout. Specifically, the content of a scout’s character is meticulously examined, with honesty being the trait placed chiefly above all others in importance. Accordingly, if a scout’s character is found wanting they are unlikely to be one of the few who manage to earn the rank of Eagle Scout. Consequently, I presume that the leaders on the board of review must have found themselves satisfied enough, by both the quality of my actions and the content of my character, to have allowed me to accept such an exclusive privilege. Thus, I can say that I take great pride in having accomplished such a lofty goal. Furthermore, to know that I have the necessary qualities and could work hard enough to earn that right, gave me a renewed determination to better myself even further.
