Personal Reflection Diversity can have many different meanings for many different people. The official definition, according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, is “the quality or state of having many different forms, types, ideas, etc.” (“Diversity,” n.d.). One place he faces diversity throughout the book is when he goes to the auditorium in school. In this part of the book Breel (2015) states, “Looking around, I saw that the less-than-half-full room was home to some unique characters, each kid looking like a bad stereotype” (p. 68). Here he realizes that he is with a diverse group of people ranging from gothic skateboarders to chain smoking gangsters. Kevin has some prejudices against these kids and feels he does not belong in the auditorium with them. This impacts Kevin’s life because he does not want to be associated with these people and avoids activities that could potentially have helped him
