Boy in the Striped Pajamas The Heavy film “Boy in the Striped Pajamas” Directed by Mark Herman we are taken along through the story of a german boy, Bruno and his family, who move near a concentration camp where his dad, Lieutenant Kotler has just been appointed the Commander of. In this film the boy bruno wanders into the backyard one day where he finds shmuel a jewish boy in the camp, over time they become friends, and bruno visits him every day usually bringing food with him. He begins to get curious over the camp and on one day he enters the camp helping shmuel look for his father, but he ends up in the gas chamber where he meets his demise. One of the themes presented by the film would definitely be “Curiosity kills the cat.”, as curiosity is the reason that Bruno ends up on the wrong side of the fence and ultimately dies in the camp. If it weren't for his curiosity in general he wouldn't have died, but then again if he weren't curios he may have became a brain dead and brainwashed Nazi like his sister. Another theme would most definitely be kindness. While Bruno's sister and father have lost all compassion for the jews and blindly follow the muttonhead that is there fuhrer Bruno's kind attitude stands out. Every day he brings shmuel food and usually plays a game with him, this shows the true kindness within, within us all. Once the mother pieces together what her husband has been doing she goes on an outrage, she also stands by and watches as her daughter is taught lies and horrible things like all jews are evil and that it is honorable to die for their country, for the Nazis. I believe, even though it is very sorrowful at times, if you can you should watch it as it is a fair movie and has great morals. All in all this was an exceptional film and if you can try and watch
