The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is a film based on the Holocaust. The Holocaust was a very tragic event that happened from 1933-1945. The Holocaust was the mass murder of six million Jews. The Nazis believed that the Jews were a problem and that they needed to be removed. Adolf Hitler then came up with idea to build concentration camps. Many Jews were taken from their homes by German soldiers and were forced onto trains to be taken to concentration camps. The first historical point was the forced mass movement of Jewish people out of their homes and into concentration camps. In the beginning of the film you were actually able to witness Jews being taken out of their homes and forced onto trains. In the film you could see that the Jews were scared, but the German soldiers were forcing them to go.
The second historical point that was made was the fact that once they were moved to these concentration camps the Jewish prisoners were forced to live in horrendous conditions. In the film you could see that it was very unsanitary. The prisoners were beat, forced to work, and were being starved.

The Africans were given no respect at all. Many women were raped by the European men running the ships. If a women was pregnant, she would have to give birth in these terrible conditions. The Africans were given insufficient bathroom facilities. They were only given a bucket to relieve themselves in, but often times the bucket was not enough and messes were created everywhere.
The only food they were given was the slop that was served to them in their bare, dirty hands. One of the leaders on the ship miscalculated how much food they would need for the trip. His solution was simple, he needed to get rid of the people he could not feed. His way of getting rid of people was by drowning them, shooting them, and making conditions so bad that people started committing
