We learn about the Holocaust so we dont let it happen again. Night is about a boy who is taken by the Nazis because he is Jewish. He is then put in a concentration camp and is driven only to survive with his father by his side. Boy in the Striped Pajamas is about a boy who has moved because of his father’s work as a Nazi Soldier. He then meets a boy named Shmuel who is Jewish and befriends him even though he is not suppose to. “First they came... “ is about a man who is disregarding everybody who are not worth to speak up to. But when he is taken by the Germans, no one is left to speak up for him and is lead to his demise. All these authors convey to the reader that one should know what will happen when others don’t speak out and become victims. In Night, when Wiesel's father was hit, Wiesel didn’t do anything to help because he knew he would get hit as well if he had spoken out. Moshe spoke out but everyone thought he was crazy and an outsider and the lead to their demise by getting taken as well. In The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, Bruno lied to the officer and Shmuel was hit. Bruno’s grandmother didn’t believe in the Nazi’s way of life. This shows that Bruno could of spoken up and take less of a punishment and the Grandmother has given Bruno to think that what the Nazi’s are doing to the Jewish people are bad. It is important to talk about this subject because when we learn about this, we have the knowledge of not letting this happen again.
