Bowling Team Analysis

Joining the bowling team shaped and formed who I am today. The challenges I faced helped me learn skills that are applicable to everyday life.
At first, bowling team seemed time consuming and I was unsure whether or not I would enjoy the experience. At the time I was adjusting to harder classes in my first year of high school, and adding fifteen to twenty hours a week to my schedule made time very valuable. At first I struggled to finish assignments and homework without depriving myself of sleep. I learned that in order to maintain a busy schedule, every second of free time must be used efficiently. In order to improve as an individual, I would ask my coaches or teammates to find my mistakes, and then I would attempt to eliminate them. This method was easy to learn, because I used it to study, and had used it in previous sports(track, football, basketball). The difficult part was learning how to improve as a team. Improving myself would help, but in order to truly improve the team has a whole, learning to communicate was important. Bowling, like many other sports, is a very up and down sport. Scores can fluctuate greatly, because it is so heavily dependent on one’s mentality. Trying to help a teammate could be difficult, because they might take advice in the wrong way. In order to have the most success, these patterns must be broken down into observations. To determine what the lane was like, I had to learn to communicate my observations to my teammates, and use their observations to come to a conclusion of where I need to be throwing the ball. As a result of this fluid communication, my team was able to qualify for state, and win the regional division. At state, it can often be tough because dozens of games must be played within a period of a few days. Bowling this much often resulted in blistered hands, which could cause problems if they began to hurt. Bowling for long periods of time could become miserable if things were going badly, but nobody on the team could quit on each other, so I learned to power through the struggles, and make the best of my situation. Bowling proved to be very valuable, and the skills I learned are useful to my everyday life. It yielded lasting friendships and taught me that Time management, problem solving, and communication are essential to succeeding at everything in
