In Bowling for Combuline, there is a cartoon about the history of the United States. This cartoon tells a brief description of different historical events in the United States: such as, pilgrims coming to North America, slavery, and the Civil Rights movement. In this video, all the events mentioned are caused by white people’s fear. For example, in the video, after slavery was abolished, white people formed the Ku Klux Klan. They did this because they were afraid that the freed slaves would kill them as revenge. White people’s fear is not the only subjects addressed repeatedly in this video, their relationship with guns is as well. Moore interviews an author, who gives the statistic as proof the crime rate in the United States has gone down yet, the media coverage of crime has increased. Moore then goes to Canada and discovers that Canadian media and government officials do not fearmonger its citizens.
