Bowe Bergdahl Case Study

Bowe Bergdahl became an instant hit when he returned to the United States after being held captive by the Taliban for almost 5 years. Bowe had become the longest held captive by the Taliban. Many questions started to rise quickly like why had Bowe left his post in the first place? Was Bowe in his right mind when he got up and left? There seemed to be many more questions than answers. While people have talked to Bowe he had explained his planned escape from OP Mest and why he was leaving. Bowe Bergdahl was in his right mind when he left and was fully able to understand what he was doing and still continued on with his plan. “DUSTWUN (abbreviation for duty status—whereabouts unknown) is a transitory casualty status assigned to United States service members who cannot be located but have not been confirmed, captured, or found dead” (Koenig,Serial). Bowe Bergdahl knew as soon as they realized he was gone it would create a dustwun. He thought that this would …show more content…
Bergdahl did have a severe mental disease or defect at the time of the alleged criminal conduct, he was able to appreciate the nature and quality and wrongfulness of this conduct.” Even though Bowe had some physiological problems he was able to understand that what he was doing was wrong. He knew how dangerous his plan was and that it could cost the lives of the people around him but he still went through with it. In 371 pages of sworn testimony, he told General Kenneth Dahl what he did, why he did it, and what he endured during his five years as a hostage of militant Haqqani network (Berlinger,Ellis,2016). If someone were not in their right mind they would not be able to comprehend and tell someone what they did, why they did it and what they endured. There would have been black out moments and times he could not account for if he didn't know what he was doing. He was even declared well enough to return to his military duties at a base in Texas after he was returned

President trump's decision to pardon sheriff “Joe Arpaio” is considered an absolute nightmare. Adaption has caused several significant mesmerizing events in the time he served as the county's sheriff. These significant events involve how Arpaio “indiscriminately targeted Latinos and detained them without evidence they had broken the law” (Carrie Johnson, Section 2). I disagree with the ability of the president to pardon people convicted of federal crimes. I believe Arpaio made several bad intentions; therefore the crime convicted should have a consequence leading on to that.…
