Banning water bottles could be the start of a new era. The United States of America could get rid of bottled water in schools without effort. Bottled water is not essential, so using water fountains and tap water would be painless. If everyone in schools in the U.S. stopped using bottled water for just one year, we could save the Earth. Using bottled water in schools hurts environments, wastes energy, and bottled water companies use tap water. Bottled water is not good for an environment at all. Mayor of San Francisco, Gavin Newsom, stated that, ¨More than 1 billion plastic water bottles end in California’s landfills each year.¨ Trying to biodegrade all of the trash from one year would take up to 1000 years. Gail Hennessey talks about wasting energy, ¨1.5 million barrels of petroleum are used to produce plastic water bottles in the United States each year.¨ If plastic bottles were not allowed to be used in schools, with this intention 250,000 homes could be supplied with electricity for a year. That is wasting resources that can be used to feed the homeless or starving kids in Africa. Bottled water is taking away from the people of the world, and something should be done about it. Companies that sell bottled water are not telling the truth about what is in them. PepsiCo explains their use of a public water source, “If this helps clarify the fact that the water originates from public sources, then it’s a reasonable thing to do.” This statement from PepsiCo means that Aquafina, the brand that they own, does not use water from a mountain stream with fresh water. Bottled water should be banned in all of the schools in the USA. Destroying the environment, wasting energy, and using public water sources for their water are all examples of what bottled water does. Bottled water is not necessary, so it should disappear in every

She presents both the pros and cons of bottled water. Her reasons, however, do not provide a strong argument since she does not clearly support a single claim. Nonetheless, the reasoning behind her logic is supported using information obtained from research. Her credibility is built, but at the same time lost, from using these resources because they are not suitable to cite.…

Why do people buy bottled water? Bottled water is not a wise consumer choice because they reuse the same bottles, all kinds of chemicals are used to make these bottles, and the bottles alone are bad for the environment. First of all bottled water is not a wise choice because they reuse the same bottles after melting them and just remold them to the new shape of the bottle. After a bottle is used it most likely is thrown away, but ends up back at the bottle factory and melted down and reformed to the new bottle shape. When a bottle is melted down and reformed we have no clue what the people had before us touching these bottles and just melting them does not get rid of the germs from the people before us.…

The length of time for plastic water bottles to decompose is between four hundred and one thousand years. People may choose to drink bottled water over tap water with the misconception that it is the cleaner, tastier, or even a healthier choice. The rate at which people are consuming bottled water is causing landfills to be filled with approximately seventy-five percent of the plastic water bottles that are made. While bottled water sales increase, the consumption of tap water is the most advantageous choice for health benefits, environment conservation, and affordability as a choice for the consumer.…
